Minneapolis in Fog

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I like to revisit and photograph favorite spots in different lighting and seasons. I’ve made images of the Minneapolis skyline from across Lake Calhoun many times, and when the fog rolled in this week I was very excited to capture a different take of the city.

Jesse vs. Lisa II

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

The long awaited Jesse vs. Lisa II is here! This time, instead of shooting digital, we went old school and shot using our film cameras armed with Kodak Tmax 3200 speed film. We love two properties of this film: the contrast and the film grain. C’est magnifique!

The rules: we had one week to expose one roll of 36 exposures. The assignment was to photograph the concept of light. Using the poll below, vote for your favorite photo or choose the photo that best represents the assignment. And leave a comment, we love hearing from you!

Fine Art Photo of the Week VIII

There is not much that beats a leisurely ambulation around a lake on a beautiful day, except when you can take that walk with the love of your life. That was the scene that sets up this picture. Although I thought it was pretty in color, I loved the play of light/dark and foresaw it in monotone—it reminds me of artwork by Piet Mondrian. My wife Lisa wrote about this same night on her blog at (if you click the link you will also see the image in color).
