Jesse vs. Lisa II

The long awaited Jesse vs. Lisa II is here! This time, instead of shooting digital, we went old school and shot using our film cameras armed with Kodak Tmax 3200 speed film. We love two properties of this film: the contrast and the film grain. C’est magnifique!

The rules: we had one week to expose one roll of 36 exposures. The assignment was to photograph the concept of light. Using the poll below, vote for your favorite photo or choose the photo that best represents the assignment. And leave a comment, we love hearing from you!

The top picture makes me feel as though God is coming down to speak to me…as a flower. Powerful!!

The flower one almost looks like it was taken at night with the moonlight behind it, it’s very romantic looking…oh la la!

P.S. How do we buy all these pretty images you two make???

  4. only one photo this time?

i really like photo two, but not so much the cropping or composition. The tree and lighting is great, and my preferable subject matter of the two pictures. Yet, i prefer the flower photo better overall.

quick question on photo 1: was there any after effects added to the photo?

    great pictures.

  5. Love this idea! Dave and I “compete” at every wedding. Maybe we should bring the competition to the masses. Too great.

while i like photo #1 better (aesthetically pleasing to me!), i believe photo #2 captured the assignment better!

    looking forward to vs. #3….

@william—We were only able to tweak the levels/contrast a little bit in Photoshop, so these are how they were shot. Thanks for the comments!

It’s the x-ray quality of the flower photograph that pleased me the most. Talk about a strong light!
