While I was waiting for a baby’s photography session at the Lake Harriet Rose Garden, I took this photo of one of the fountains with an extremely fast shutter speed (1/6400 second).

Fine Art Photo of the Week XXXVXIV
Friday, May 7th, 2010I knew that the approaching storm would bring some unique photo opportunities, so I set out to Westwood Nature Center in my bright orange raincoat. When I came upon the turkeys, I started taking photos of them. As I raised my camera and took the first few clicks, this tom put up his display. I noticed that he kept checking me out and would go into full display when I took his portrait.
I think that he thought I was a rival turkey, and whenever I raised my arm that I was displaying my “orange feathers” and challenging him. It was a very unique encounter. After a few more shots I left him alone with all the females.
Cattail on Purple
Saturday, May 1st, 2010This is another photo that I took out at Westwood Nature Center of a cattail. It reminded me of the cattail photo I took almost a year ago with some red bushes as the background (you can see that image by clicking here). For this image, the purple color is from some flowering crabapple trees in the background. I love to reference other artworks from time to time.
