Sarah + Vic’s Wedding by Jesse Valley Photography

October 6th, 2011

Photographing Sarah and Vic’s wedding was a lot of fun. It was a hot and steamy day (so much so that my camera lens fogged up when we left the reception), but they were great sports as we trekked through downtown Minneapolis for some last pictures. I always love it when I get to do some special portraits with the bride and groom alone, and I know it is memorable for them too. The other fun thing from this wedding was doing my first PhotoBooth (which you can read about by clicking here).

Bark at Art PhotoBooth

September 8th, 2011

The Bark at Art poster opening was a great event, and I had a lot of fun manning the PhotoBooth, seeing all the pets, and seeing the different posters. It was a beautiful evening, and this is what the subjects saw as they clicked their pictures (see all the photos from the event by clicking here):

The following is a time-lapse video I made from the pictures:

I have posted the pictures I took of the event here. As an added bonus for The Pet Project, I am donating the proceeds from any print sales.

As a quick aside, I love how much fun the little girl had with the PhotoBooth, and I can imagine that it would be a big hit at children’s birthday parties (give me a call if you are interested: 612-382-2867).

thank-you

Thank you to all of the vendors who contributed to the event, and especially to all the people and pets that came out to the opening. I have also teamed up with the Pet Project for my annual Portraits with Pets event. You can read more about it (and schedule a pet session), by clicking here.

Family Portrait Month at Jesse Valley Photography

August 25th, 2011

Family portrait sessions are fun and memorable at Jesse Valley Photography. Whether at your home or a favorite park, we’ll capture your family laughing and interacting together. You can even include your pet! These artful and candid memories are perfect for holiday cards, gifts for grandparents and custom art for your home.

They say it’s better to give than to receive, so why not do both?

Enjoy giving and receiving in October during Family Portrait Month. For every family session booked, we’ll give a $50 donation to Operation Smile and you’ll receive $50 off your session.

HOW TO BOOK YOUR SESSION:

Because of a busy wedding season this fall, weekend sessions are very limited. Call 612.382.2867 ASAP with your calendar and credit card handy. To reserve your session, you’ll pay the $100 session fee (normally $150) and $200 deposit. Weekday sessions can be at any location within 20 miles of Minneapolis. Or if you would like a weekend session, choose your location and date below:

October 2 at Westwood Nature Center (morning sessions only)

October 9 at Minnehaha Falls (morning sessions only)

October 15 or 16 at Lake Harriet Rose Garden

October 22 or 23 at the MN Landscape Arboretum

October 29 or 30 at St. Anthony/Main

September 11 from 9 am–5 pm at Oak Hill Park in St. Louis Park.

Pet Portraits and PhotoBooth at the Bark at Art opening reception

August 12th, 2011

I am excited to be running a photo booth and to be taking pet portraits at the Bark at Art opening reception, so stop out and bring your pet! (Click here to see some samples of my pet photography).

My wife Lisa designed a poster for the event of our dog Toby. Here is a quick sneak peak of Toby posing by the poster:

My First Magazine Cover

August 10th, 2011

I’ve had my photography published on the cover of my first magazine: America’s Pharmacist. I know it’s not National Geographic or TIME, but I still think it’s pretty cool. Here is the cover shot and the accompanying article. All of the photos are mine except the picture of the old pharmacy.

Bid on my Photo Package and help two Charities (and get great photos!)

August 7th, 2011

I love giving back to the community, because I feel so blessed by God to have all that I do and to be doing what I love in life. For the rest of this week, you can bid on a free photo session and 11×14 portrait with me here.

The proceeds from this national auction benefit The Mommies Network and Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (you can learn more about those charities by clicking on the links). And since this is a national auction, those of you not in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area can still help out by bidding on the prizes in your area.

Don’t delay; the auction ends Saturday August 13 at 10pm EST. Click here to bid.

PhotoBooth from Sarah & Victor’s Wedding

August 6th, 2011

I have done a PhotoBooth before at my old studio (see the pictures here: Part 1 and Part 2), but I had not done one at an actual event yet. Here is a time-lapse video of the PhotoBooth we set up at Sarah and Victor’s wedding using a professional camera and studio lighting. If you are interested in doing a PhotoBooth at your wedding or special event, please give Jesse Valley Photography a call!

Cinemagraph: My First Attempt

July 8th, 2011

As most of you know, I love photography. But I also really like cinematography, and now that digital SLRs can take video there are interesting possibilities where video and still photos meet. I will be writing more about this in the future, but one of the most interesting techniques is cinemagraphs (which remind me of the moving photos in Harry Potter), because they are more photograph than movie.

Here is my first attempt, of high school senior Katie. I hope you like it.

June 9th, 2011

Now is the time to go out and see the flowers at the Peace Garden near Lake Harriet. Or any of the great public gardens, really. They are beautiful!
