Some of my photography will be featured in The Story of the Creative exhibition in New York City. This show will feature artists from 103 countries across the globe, and it will be on display from July 25—September 10, 2013. I won’t be able to see the exhibit in person, but let me know in the comments if you get to check it out. (Click here to see the invitation and get directions to the gallery.) Here are links to the 3 images they included in the exhibition:

Below is my second contribution to The Art House Co-op. It is for “The Photo Response Project,” wherein 1000 artists were asked to make a visual response to one of five photos. The exhibition will explore each photograph and its responses.
The photo I responded to is this:
And here is my response, which I took with my iPhone 4s using the Camera Awesome app:
Today I made my first contribution to The Art House Co-op, for a project called “The Meal.” Basically, there is going to be an exhibition of self portraits of people and their meal from February 24th at 12 pm EST. According to the website, there were over 4400 contributors to this project, which will be exhibited in Brooklyn, NY and made available online starting April 5th.
My meal was a breakfast quesadilla, and Toby was eating his dog food.
The Bark at Art poster opening was a great event, and I had a lot of fun manning the PhotoBooth, seeing all the pets, and seeing the different posters. It was a beautiful evening, and this is what the subjects saw as they clicked their pictures (see all the photos from the event by clicking here):
The following is a time-lapse video I made from the pictures:
As a quick aside, I love how much fun the little girl had with the PhotoBooth, and I can imagine that it would be a big hit at children’s birthday parties (give me a call if you are interested: 612-382-2867).
Thank you to all of the vendors who contributed to the event, and especially to all the people and pets that came out to the opening. I have also teamed up with the Pet Project for my annual Portraits with Pets event. You can read more about it (and schedule a pet session), by clicking here.
I am excited to be running a photo booth and to be taking pet portraits at the Bark at Art opening reception, so stop out and bring your pet! (Click here to see some samples of my pet photography).
My wife Lisa designed a poster for the event of our dog Toby. Here is a quick sneak peak of Toby posing by the poster:
Bark at Art is a poster show benefiting The Pet Project. They are also collecting unopened bags of food and new/gently used pet supplies. It is a pet friendly event and a very good cause. You can learn more about it from the announcement below and by clicking here. If you’re on Facebook, you can learn more about the event and let us know that you are coming by clicking here (and be sure to invite your friends!).
I wanted to let you know that I have two photos that will be on display at the Hopkins Center for the Arts in a group exhibition. They are titled Alone and Red/Green (can you guess which is which?), and they are both 16×24 inches in size and printed on metallic photographic paper.
The opening reception is Thursday, April 21 from 6–8 pm. The exhibition ends May 21, 2011. The gallery hours are posted on their website, which you can see by clicking here.
*Updated April 29: I found out that Red/Green received an Award of Excellence!*
I am really excited to be a part of the inaugural Feed Your Passion for Fashion event on Thursday evening (September 23rd) at the West End in St. Louis Park. I will be there with 44 other local artists, and I will be selling some of my Fine Art photography (including photos from the North Shore).
When you visit me at my booth at the West End on Thursday and book your session for October’s Family Portrait Month, you’ll receive a FREE 8×10 fine art print! (Click here for more info on Family Portrait Month.)
You can see a small sampling of my fine art photography on my website www.jessevalley.com. There is a whole bunch of other stuff going on during the art fair, including a fashion show, live music by Tim Mahoney and a raffle to benefit STEP (St. Louis Park Emergency Program). I really hope to see you there!

I am happy to share with you the first photo of mine to merit at the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) International Photographic Competition, a world-renowned competition where entries are evaluated against a standard of excellence. You can read more about competition and what it takes to merit by clicking here.
My print will be exhibited at the Imaging USA convention in San Antonio this January.
Through May 14, you can see the following photo, which I made while traveling along the North Shore, in the Student & Alumni Art Exhibition at the Worthington campus of MN West Community & Technical College. It was on this campus that I sold my first fine art photograph, and it is also where I had my first solo art exhibition.
The closing reception is Friday, May 14 from 4–6 pm. Stop by and enjoy the artwork!
The Fall Colors gallery show was a lot of fun! Thank you for coming and seeing my work, and for listening to the music of Noah Hoehn. Here are some pictures from that night, which I hope you enjoy. If you would like to see an online gallery of the prints (and purchase your own print), go here.
