I love the various clouds we experience in Minnesota in the early summertime. Here is one of my favorite cloud images from this week:

While I was waiting for a baby’s photography session at the Lake Harriet Rose Garden, I took this photo of one of the fountains with an extremely fast shutter speed (1/6400 second).

We took Toby for his first walk in downtown Minneapolis. We walked across the Hennepin Avenue Bridge  and I took this photo from the northeast side of the Mississippi River.

I knew that the approaching storm would bring some unique photo opportunities, so I set out to Westwood Nature Center in my bright orange raincoat. When I came upon the turkeys, I started taking photos of them. As I raised my camera and took the first few clicks, this tom put up his display. I noticed that he kept checking me out and would go into full display when I took his portrait.

I think that he thought I was a rival turkey, and whenever I raised my arm that I was displaying my “orange feathers” and challenging him. It was a very unique encounter. After a few more shots I left him alone with all the females.

This photo was taken shortly after my five year wedding anniversary, and it reminds me of marriage. I hope you like it.

I love the scent of lilac blossoms, and I can smell them now as I’m posting this photo of some purple lilacs bursting into bloom. It’s amazing how scent can bring back vivid memories…both good and bad. For me, lilacs are the smell of Spring, which has come early this year. Happy Spring!
