Mary Kay’s Bridal Grand Opening

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Anyone who is planning a wedding knows that there are many tasks to create the perfect day:

  • Finding the dress of your dreams
  • Booking a professional photographer
  • Choosing a wedding cake
  • And the list goes on…

That’s why it’s so convenient when you can go to one event and accomplish multiple tasks at once, plus it doesn’t hurt to get free Hors D’oeuvres, gift bags and the chance to win prizes and drawings. Mary Kay’s Bridal Grand Opening Party is this weekend! Check out their new location and learn about the services of other wedding vendors, including the engagement and wedding photography of Jesse Valley Photography (JVP).

My Photo in an Alumni Art Show

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Through May 14, you can see the following photo, which I made while traveling along the North Shore, in the Student & Alumni Art Exhibition at the Worthington campus of MN West Community & Technical College. It was on this campus that I sold my first fine art photograph, and it is also where I had my first solo art exhibition.

The closing reception is Friday, May 14 from 4–6 pm. Stop by and enjoy the artwork!

Happy Earth Day!

Fine Art Photo of the Week XXXVI

I love the scent of lilac blossoms, and I can smell them now as I’m posting this photo of some purple lilacs bursting into bloom. It’s amazing how scent can bring back vivid memories…both good and bad. For me, lilacs are the smell of Spring, which has come early this year. Happy Spring!

Fine Art Photo of the Week XXXV

The weather has been so bizarre (but certainly lovely) this spring in Minnesota. On a recent walk with Lisa and our dog Toby, I photographed this lady bug hanging out on some newly emerged maple leaves.

Magnolia Flower Unfurling

Friday, April 9th, 2010

One of my favorite discoveries last year was the biggest magnolia tree I’ve seen in the Minneapolis area, and it is only about 3 blocks from my house. I have stopped by and photographed its blossoms through out the week, and this is one of my favorite images.

God’s Easter Egg

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

What a spectacular sunset tonight!

So many times it reminded me of the coloring on a marbled Easter egg, which is fitting since it is Good Friday. But this was far more complex as the clouds and sunlight were constantly changing—everywhere I pointed my lens was another stunning image. Maybe I will create a montage of the images I took for Easter. But for now, enjoy this abstracted closeup.
